Mohawk IDEAWORKS Launches SSHRC Exchange Grants to Support Faculty Research

September 2025 — Mohawk IDEAWORKS has been awarded funding through the SSHRC Institutional Grants (SIG) program, which provides resources to Canadian postsecondary institutions to enhance research excellence in the social sciences and humanities.

Through this support, IDEAWORKS is launching SSHRC Exchange Grants, available annually until 2028. These grants are designed to:

· Support knowledge mobilization activities such as journal publications, case studies, workshops and seminars that encourage collaboration and broaden the reach of research results;

· Provide faculty with opportunities to present their work at scholarly conferences and other venues.

The deadline to apply for funding for fiscal 2025-2026 is November 1, 2025.

Program Details

· Two grants awarded per year

· Up to $2,250 per grant

· Open to full-time and part-time faculty engaged in SSHRC-eligible disciplines

· Applicants must have completed Applied Research 101 and be able to use funds within the fiscal year

Eligible Expenses include journal/open access fees, design and translation support, printing, event hospitality and platform costs, as well as reasonable conference-related expenses (registration, travel, accommodations, and meals).
